We used the flour from the water mill at the Weald and Down Open Air Museum to make our own bread. No matter that we started this yesterday – well proven! The girls enjoyed kneading, then we left it to rise, which it did (despite the yeast being out of date, nothing like an aga and 24 hours longer than required;-)
Shaped into rolls, which are as solid as doorsteps but surprisingly tasty. Probably more in keeping with how bread would have been consumed in the past than I intended!
