2016 certainly hasn’t been the greatest of years in both our own little Webb’s world of no-sleep and feeling too stretched and unable to cope properly, but more so in the wider world. The appalling politics that have changed our future to one that is suddenly more dramatically uncertain and sadly, even less peaceful. Brexit, Trump, small words representing big and scary things about which we have little or no control. Syria, ISIS and the unrest across so much of the world. It makes me feel so sad and full of fear for the future faced by my children, and all those across the world. Yet surely we need to focus on the good, the positive, the hopeful.
As attested by Sir David Attenborough, ‘A home not just for us but for all life…’
‘It is, surely, our responsibility to do everything within our power to create a planet that provides a home not just for us, but for all life on Earth.’
I for one, have so many things I wish to complete, to get back to, to fulfil, to try…but the main one is to spend more time with my children, less time apologising for all those things that I haven’t managed to achieve, and to appreciate and celebrate what is so wonderful around us. A bit heartfelt perhaps, but let’s spare a thought for all those many who are suffering and coping with such terrible events beyond their control and not only be thankful for what we have got but to start to fight a bit harder to look after it better, if not for us, then for our children?
